What I noticed immediately when I first had kids, was how different my life looked from the imagery I saw in advertising and media in general. Families are messy and fabulous and mundane and precious. I like to embrace what is actually happening on set vs the fantasy of what families look like allowing something really cool to emerge. When working with real families for client projects and my own work I like to use a mix of hand held strobes and battery powered bigger light sources to keep things nimble and real. We move around a lot and use a mix of improvised photo direction with quieter observation of what naturally wants to unfold.
Calling on my deep roots in editorial and documentary work, our Covid-19 shooting process remains the same as always, on a much smaller scale. Safety is a number one priority.
